I’m Still Native But Improved

I’m Still Native But Improved provides insight into the natives and nativars found in the Central Midwest. This book includes plants that are native to Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, western Ohio, western Tennessee, northern Arkansas, and western Kentucky. A few naturalized plants which have become embedded in our native landscape are also included.

Trent and his father go out every Wednesday into the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois to look for native plants growing along the roadside. They call this Southern Illinois Roadside Botany. Last year, they found 18 new plants new to Illinois.
